scarves by Alison Horwood

What a weekend! The Eastside Culture Crawl from Nov 25th to 27th 2010 was busy, exciting, satisfying and gratifying. Many, many people stopped by the studio to visit, shop and talk about all things weaving. I met so many interesting people and really enjoyed the chance to share stories, (as weaving can feel like such a solitary activity at times). Thank you to everyone for coming to visit us at studio 10-B. We are totally inspired for next year and hope to see you then.

Handmade sock monkey by 8 yr old, Harmony. Harmony was a visitor during the Culture Crawl who wanted to see how her handmade one eyed "Mookie" would look on the loom. Cute.

undulating twill   doorway

Sometimes inspiration comes from something you see every day, but tend to overlook every day. For me, it's this glass doorway in my home. I see it everyday, but I don't see it (if you know what I mean). It wasn't until I wove the table runner that I noticed the doorway and the effect the light created as it illuminated the textured glass, and how much it resembled the piece I just wove. Funny that - the things that get in your brain!
